Jack VanDerhei is the research director of the Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI), a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization committed to original public policy research and education on economic security and employee benefits. Serving with EBRI since 1988, he is also the director of the EBRI Defined Contribution and Participant Behavior Research Program; the EBRI Retirement Security Research Program; and the EBRI Center for Research on Retirement Income. Dr. VanDerhei is author of more than 200 publications, and his research focuses on the financial aspects of private defined benefit and defined contribution retirement plans. He is editor of Benefits Quarterly and “Search for a National Retirement Income Policy” and a member of numerous other organizations. He received his B.B.A. and M.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his M.A. and Ph.D. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. VanDerhei has provided expert testimony for numerous House and Senate committee hearings( 2008-2012) briefings for Capitol Hill staffers. He was named by Treasury & Risk as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Finance, 2008 and featured on PBS Frontline, Can You Afford to Retire? and appeared on NBC Nightly News, WealthTrack, CNN, CNBC, MSNBC and NPR's All Things Considered.
